Phase One Works were appointed to carry out the full internal strip out of all existing internal finishes back to shell and core. This included all internal partitions, doors, plasterboard wall linings, ceilings, floor finishes and services (including lifts). With more challenging works including the removal of paint finishes to retain brick work by hand to retain existing features.
To enable the strip out Phase One employed specialist MEPH contractors to validate and isolate all existing services. We also had to concisely review the levels of asbestos contamination within the building and coordinate strip out and asbestos removal works in a specific sequence to enable safe and efficient removals. This included submission of ASB5 notification for removal of AIB.
Other work also included in-depth site investigation for the follow-on structural design, consisting of opening up trial pits in the basement, specific window samples and opening up works throughout the building. This information was then being used to formulate the follow-on structural package which Phase One actively assisted the client with, including production of early budget information, highlighting any structural challenges, as well as outlining likely program and sequence.
